"In a carefully crafted and honest unfolding of grief at the loss of her son Kevin; Carla Blowey shares her story in a way that will touch many hearts. The reader feels the range of grief emotions in the day by day effort to grasp on to life when all seems irrelevant. Dreaming Kevin is worded in such a way that persons are affirmed in their own grief journey. Sharing her dreams, unlocking their meaning and working toward wholeness for herself and her family, Carla Blowey's story belongs to so many yet stands on its own since no one can individualize another's grief. The reality is that the dream becomes an adventure--searching deeper life of faith and trust in God, our God who cares and loves, while leading us to forgiveness and healing. This is what makes this book a treasure of memories and a compass toward new beginnings."

"It was a wonderful, eye opening experience to "see" it through the dreams. Many people NEED the dreams and many people fear the dreams. This book should help BOTH be able to embrace their dreams. Thank you for sharing it with others.

NEW BOOKS: The other evening, a member asked if anyone had experiences dreaming about their child. How timely! We just added an excellent book to our library that might help: Dreaming Kevin: The Path To Healing by Carla Blowey (we have two copies). Her honest, candid journal takes the reader through a minute-by-minute, day-by-day, week-by-week experience familiar to many of us. We can relate to her despair, her grief, her anger, and even her eventual solution. The benefit is that any person who has had dreams and wondered if they were going crazy, will receive comfort and a greater understanding of their experience as they read this book. Once started, one wants to read it all the way without stopping.

"Dreaming Kevin: The Path To Healing is a remarkable book in several dimensions:
The author’s unmistakable clarity of understanding of her path, both before and after Kevin’s death. She does not sugar-coat her despair, her rage, her terror. And yet you feel her hope and sense her commitment, to know that her life, as well as Kevin’s life, are about something bigger than can be touched, seen, sensed. The narrative makes a truly non-linear process seem like it happens in some kind of a sequential order. But you also know that her learning is going on many levels at the same time. The reader feels amazed and blessed to be an observer at what feels like a terrifying initiation for Carla’s soul-work.
The author’s recollection of the events and feelings that transpired before, during and after the trauma of her son’s fatal accident. This recall is unusual in it’s detail, it’s cohesiveness and its sense of importance to the whole of her-story.
The author’s humility in seeking and finding help in unexpected places. The pain she and her family experienced at the death of their beloved Kevin was the catalyst, but the author still shows an inspiring level of awareness that she had to find help—and not just any help—but help to break free of her old paradigms about what life, death and the afterlife are about.
As a grief counselor and program developer, I found Carla’s book one that I will recommend not only for grieving families, but also anyone who feels that the healing of their life-wounds (grief-related or not) can best be addressed by opening to other dimensions than are commonly experienced. Carla’s utilization of her dreams to find wholeness is an inspiration for each of us to know that within us, especially during the dark nights of the soul, lie the tools for our healing and soul-growth. I also recommend this book to any who are in search of more depth in their counseling modalities. Carla Blowey has done a masterful job of putting on paper a liminal experience of the highest order. Thank you, Carla."

"Dreaming Kevin is a must read for anyone serious about doing grief work. Upon picking up the book, you soon realize how the Divine works in dreams and images that are calling us to greater depths about the true meaning of life. This book cannot be put down much less put back on the shelf. It remains in your heart forever. It is worth the risk of reading for it will change not only your belief about grief but will move your heart closer to the Divine."

"Dreaming Kevin is a journey from sudden grief to a clearer understanding that we all live in the Heart Light of God. It is a story of how we hold on to our misconceptions despite many messages about our true nature, until we are faced with an event so profound that it shakes the very core of our being. Kevin's life and death are messages of hope, not only to his family, but to all of us. We know, as surely as his mother now knows, that the Great Mysteries of God transcend ordinary human beliefs and experiences. Our dreams are doorways to that knowing. Dreaming Kevin is a wonderful book that challenges us to face our own grief and to journey with the author into the Dream Time to find the answers to our healing. I was changed by taking this journey."
